Program Outcomes

  • Understanding the Old & New Testament

    Graduates will demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the Old and New Testaments, including their historical context, literary genres, and theological themes.

    Graduates will be able to articulate and defend core Christian doctrines based on sound biblical interpretation and theological reflection.

    Graduates will demonstrate proficiency in using hermeneutical principles to accurately interpret and apply Scripture in various ministry contexts.

Meet Dr. Brack Buckles

Interim Chair of the School of Ministry

Brack Buckles received a Bachelor of Arts in Religion and Speech Communications from Belmont University, a Master of Arts in Religious Education from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Student Ministry and Foundations from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Dr. Buckles has over 30 years of experience in Student Ministry serving in churches in Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, and Texas. He has a passion for training his students to lead well.

Dr. Buckles desires to help the next generation of youth ministers to understand how to be successful in their ministry endeavors. He desires to use his experience, including his mistakes, to help the younger generation of leaders to lead in a way that glorifies Christ!

Dr. Buckles gave his life to Christ as an 8th grader, and God called him into the ministry when he was 16 years old. He desires for everything he does to point people to Jesus. Dr. Buckles has been married to Catholene since 1997. They have 3 adult children (Rebekah, Caleb, & Hannah) and 1 grandchild (Lorelai). He loves to play games and watch movies with his family. His life verse is John 15:13, “Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.”

  • Every student at ABU double majors with one of those majors being in Bible. This will equip you with a strong theological foundation, practical ministry skills, and a biblical worldview. This prepares you to effectively teach, disciple, and serve in ministry by deepening your understanding of Scripture and applying it to real-world challenges in church and mission settings.

  • Absolutely! In the School of Ministry, we combine a theoretical foundation with practical training so that you are not only prepared but actually involved in ministry before you even graduate. We have a standing list of churches that are looking for ministry students to intern and gain practical experience while completing their degree. 

  • We strive to help transfer students carry over as many hours as they can. The two factors are the accreditation of the school you are coming from and if those courses fit your degree plan here at ABU. If you have specific course questions, please contact the Chair of the School of Ministry.
