The Earl K. Oldham Library is an academic library whose mission is to implement, enrich, and support the mission and goals of the ABU community by providing resources for scholarly pursuits and Christian ministry.

The leading bibliographic database for sports and sports medicine research. It includes records from leading sports medicine journals, books, dissertations and more.

EBSCO ALTA Religious Database

The premier index to journal articles, book reviews, and collections of essays in all fields of religion, with coverage from 1949 and retrospective indexing for some journal issues as far back as the nineteenth century.

ProQuest Education Journals Collection

This collection includes over 1,000 full-text journals and 18,000 dissertations, supporting research on the theory and practice of education. Not only does this collection cover literature on primary, secondary, and higher education but also special education, home schooling, adult education, and hundreds of related topics.

Expectations for Study in the Earl K. Oldham Library
  1. Students who wish to study in the library or seek the assistance of a librarian must sign in at the circulation desk.

  2. The library is intended for academic engagement. It is not a place that should ever be rowdy or boisterous. Spaces are designed for silence or quiet conversation

  3. Audio should be listened to with headphones in and the volume should not be so loud that another person sitting near you can hear.

  4. Zoom and cell phone conversations should not be held in the library spaces.

  5. Areas near service points, offices, stairs, elevators, printers, and classrooms may, at times, be noisier. If you are looking for truly quiet study, seating in the stacks or around the perimeter of the library may be best.

  6. Food is not permitted in any library space. Water in a spill-proof container is permitted.

  7. ABU faculty, staff, and students are welcome to browse the library stacks for books of interest and bring them to the Circulation Desk to check out. If an item is not located in the stacks, faculty, staff, and students may place a request, and library staff will search for it.

  8. No physical resource may be taken from the building without proper checkout procedures.

  9. Items borrowed from the library remain the responsibility of the cardholder. Items should be renewed, on or before the due date, to avoid fines and replacement fees. Items charged to an individual must be returned in good condition, without evidence of defacement, mutilation, or other damage or fees may be incurred.

  10. Please refrain from leaving cell phones, laptops, wallets, and other valuables on open tables in the library, as this invites possible thefts. Security concerns or issues in the library should be reported to library staff. Campus security may be reached at 682.326.7272. For emergencies, call 911.

Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary

ABU’s Earl K Oldham Library and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary’s Roberts Library maintain a Reciprocal Agreement. Under the provisions of this agreement, an ABU student may use the facilities and physical materials of SWBTS’s Roberts Library with specific limitations. Students wishing to borrow materials from the circulating collection of Roberts Library should contact the ABU Librarian for assistance.

Arlington Public Library

All faculty and students of ABU are eligible for a free library card with the Arlington Public Library. Bring proof of attendance or employment to any Arlington Public Library location to get your card. In addition to multiple branches and an extensive collection of physical resources, the Arlington Public Library features over 190 databases and a varied menu of other virtual resources. Students may be particularly interested in Transparent Language Online, a comprehensive, effective, and engaging way to learn over 120 languages. College  Center Plus, College Success Skills, and Career Center Plus are all APL databases worthwhile for ABU students. We encourage you to explore more and take advantage of the opportunities available through the generosity of the City of Arlington.  

Chronicling America-Library of Congress

"Chronicling America (ISSN 2475-2703) is a Website providing access to information about historic newspapers and select digitized newspaper pages, and is produced by the National Digital Newspaper Program (NDNP). NDNP, a partnership between the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and the Library of Congress (LC), is a long-term effort to develop an Internet-based, searchable database of U.S. newspapers with descriptive information and select digitization of historic pages. Supported by NEH, this rich digital resource will be developed and permanently maintained at the Library of Congress. An NEH award program will fund the contribution of content from, eventually, all U.S. states and territories."

Journal of Biblical Integration In Business

"The mission of The Journal of Biblical Integration in Business (JBIB) is to publish theoretical and empirical papers that integrate biblical principles and truths into the business disciplines. The journal is a broad, double-blind peer review forum that aims to publish manuscripts that add to the body of knowledge. Such manuscripts will be: scholarly in design, tone, and depth, reflecting accurately the literature in the business discipline concerned and directly relate to biblical presuppositions, passages and perspectives throughout the paper."

Christian Business Academy Review

"The CBAR is a blind peer-reviewed spring publication of the Christian Business Faculty Association. The CBAR is devoted to promoting Christian business education through publication of faith-based articles that focus on Creative Instruction (cases, innovations in pedagogy, materials, and methods for teaching undergraduate and graduate business students), Curriculum Development (book reviews, ideas for and experience with the creation of new courses and programs of study), Professional Issues (the role of business programs and faculty in assessment, accreditation, compensation, teaching loads, and professional development), and Research in Business Education (original empirical studies and surveys dealing with the evaluation of teaching methods, learning attitudes, and assessment techniques)."
